Are These Real Ontario Test Routes?

Ontario’s Graduated Licensing System
Designed to help new drivers build their skills and confidence over time, it consists of three stages:
G1 License
This first step requires passing a written knowledge test.
G1 drivers must always be accompanied by a fully licensed driver with at least four years of experience. They are also restricted from driving on 400-series highways and must follow a zero blood-alcohol level rule.
G2 License
After holding a G1 for at least 8–12 months (depending on whether you take an approved driving course), you can take the G2 road test.
G2 drivers can drive without a supervisor but must still maintain a zero blood-alcohol level and adhere to passenger restrictions, especially for young drivers.
Full G License
The final step is the G test, where you’ll demonstrate advanced skills like highway driving, lane changes, and merging. Passing this test removes most restrictions and grants full driving privileges.
The entire process must be completed within 5 years of obtaining your G1. By following this structured approach, Ontario ensures drivers gain the experience they need to stay safe on the road.
The G2 Test
The second step in the licensing process is an important milestone for gaining more independence. This test evaluates your basic driving skills and ability to handle urban and suburban roads.
